On your marks…..scissors ready

The biggest scissor battle will be unleashed as four nominees vie to be crowned the champion of the New Zealand hair circuit. The title is the prestigious New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year award and my favourite hair stylist and friend Adrian Barclay is up for a second time. Adrian won the national title in 2009 and opened Venom a stylish salon in Invercargill. The sleek salon won the NZ/Australia Hair Salon Design of the Year award in 2011. I’m so excited and can’t wait for the awards night at Hair Expo Australia in Sydney on June 11. Go Adrian! So, let’s take a look at some of his latest work.

From Fashion to Food – Melbourne Food & Wine Festival 2012

March is one crazy time in Melbourne with two festivals on – one fashion and the other celebrating food glorious food. You may have seen all my reporting on the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, but I made sure not to miss out on the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival which ran from March 2 – 22. The Great Cheese Platter was held at the Queen Victoria Markets last Thursday night and I went along, took some snaps and  enjoyed some beautiful cheese and excellent wine. It was a very informative evening with guest speakers charming us with the finer details of the cheese and wine industry. It was the first time the Markets have held the event during the festival and with it being a sell out, they should certainly lock it in for next year. Let’s take a look at the night.

That’s A Wrap

Goodbye L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2012 – you have been fabulous, colourful and another wild adventure. Melbourne designer Toni Maticevski was the festival finale and he showcased his latest collection with a few key pieces from previous seasons. He sent down the runway dresses that floated in shades of black, grey and white. He, as always, used only the finest detailing with exquisite sequins and beading that sparkled.

Random LMFF

One of my favourite things to do at a fashion event is run around taking random pictures. I leave the perfect photos to the professional guys and would rather rock around chatting, drinking, meeting new people and taking pictures of anything that catches my eye. Here is a select few of my random photos and of the fabulous people attending L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2012.

Sex Up That Runway

The international Queen of burlesque sexed up the runway on Friday night at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Von Folies by Dita Von Teese  is the exclusive collection for Target and on the night the crowd showed their appreciation with a standing ovation. It was reported that when organising the runway show she wanted models with curves and a natural skin tone so banned fake tan. The collection is indeed top of the line SEXY and features dark tones of black and blue with lace detail. To venture onto the wild side there is also the animal print option. Looking at the range online it is available at a very reasonable price. For more pictures check out my Facebook page.
