Anhika Launch Party

It was a cold wintery night, but that didn’t stop the fashion pack from missing the launch of a new label. Anhika is the new kid on the block of the androgyny scene and brought the fashion lovers to the hotspot of 1000 £ Bend last night. The music was pumping and the drinks flowed as we got up close to critique the clothing that was creatively displayed from a hanging wire structure. The knitwear pieces are a must-have for the cooler weather and I loved how easily they could be worn for both sexes. The rustic venue and artistic presentation made for a fantastic launch party. To shop any of the looks head to the Anhika Pop-Up store at SO:ME space in South Melbourne Market from the 16th of May.

Cooking Class in Modern British

Why save the best for last! I had to show the desert first, as the Brown Ale Pudding was super-delicious.

I jumped at the chance to be part of a cooking class in Modern British at South Melbourne Market last Wednesday night. The Commoner Restaurant head chef Brook Petrie took us on a journey of taste that was the perfect appetite pleasing food for these cold winter nights. As a guest of The Commoner Restaurant I was there to take photos and enjoy the food – I know what a tough life. It was a small class that was made interactive so we could pick up new skills and get our hands dirty at the same time. The wine was free-flowing and made for a fun learning experience. The menu consisted of; Pork and Pistachio Terrine with Peach Chutney, Rabbit Prune & Pinot Pie and Brown Ale Pudding. Let me take you through the evening with pictures.

Romance Was Born

Australian Fashion Week is in full swing and Romance Was Born is my favourite show so far. It was the vivid use of colour that really exploded on the catwalk with a show that looked like it was brought to life straight from a comic book.

It was only last week…….

On this wet cold day, I’m inside by the heater listening to the rain have its way with the outside world. The first winter blast has arrived and I see this as the perfect chance to recharge as it’s also a public holiday – ANZAC Day: Lest we forget. However, lying on the couch watching The Voice, I have the sudden urge to write. I then remembered it was only last Wednesday I was enjoying a spectacular sunshine journey on the waterways of Melbourne. Chocolate City Clothing owner Richard took us out on a boat for breakfast. As I handle the PR/Communication and Social Media for the label, it was great to hang with the crew. It was a stunning autumn day so let’s take a look as some of the pictures I took.

NICE! Published in Cravings Magazine

Cravings magazine is gorgeous! I meet the editor at a function late last year and told her about my adventures in Melbourne. Next she had me writing about my favourite places to wine and dine.

Pick up a copy to read the full report and to flick through a glossy magazine full of fabulous food stories.

This is how the report starts:

A fashion lover’s guide: cocktails & coffee in Melbourne.

Fashion reporter and designer Craig Lawson is the go-to guy for all things chic and happening in one of Australia’s most vibrant food cities. Here he shares his favourite haunts with us.

Blurring the lines

Androgynous fashion continues to intrigue as it blurs the boundaries between masculine and feminine. It has evolved to become a playful and interesting way to express your style.

Anhika is a new Melbourne-based label to deliver a fresh take on Androgynous fashion.  The clothing is designed to worn by both sexes with soft silhouettes that create a very individual look and a strong fashion impact. Designer and owner Andy Katsanos has quickly developed a following with two stockists already under his belt, proving that androgyny fashion is here is to stay and not going away anytime soon.

We chat to new Andy and find out more about his Anhika label.

Q. Tell us what androgynous fashion means to you?
A. I’ve always had a fascination and love for androgyny. I think the idea of having no gender within fashion is an important form of expression and there is a hidden beauty within it. The idea of breaking free from the separation that has been created between genders is a reason to break from what is expected.

Q. How would you describe your label?
A. I would say that Anhika is very minimal and maybe even a little bit dark. Especially for this collection I tried to focus on long and flowing silhouettes. I like a lot of motion in my garments.

Q. What is your favourite piece from the collection and why?
A. I’ll have to say the knit is my favourite. It’s very comfortable and warm and really comes well together with the other pieces. I’ve been wearing it as much as I can, considering Melbourne’s crazy weather!

Q. How have you found starting a label?
A. It has been such an adventure and one of the most exciting things I have ever done. It is a lot of hard work and you’ve gotta put in a lot of hours but to be honest it doesn’t even seem that way. It’s just really exciting!

Q. What is your idea of a good time?
A.  Haha. My idea of a good time…I’d have to say company is definitely important. If I’m hanging out with a good group of people then I don’t think it really matters what I’m doing to be honest.
